The evening sky turned a soft shade of pink, signaling that the day was slowly coming to an end. Lala sat by the window, hugging her favorite stuffed toy tightly. Normally, Dad would be home by now, laughing and telling stories about his day. But today, the house felt unusually quiet.
Lala’s little ears twitched at every sound outside. “Where is Dad?” she whispered to herself, her brow furrowed in worry. She tried to play with her toys, but every tick of the clock reminded her that it was getting late.
Mom noticed Lala’s anxious look and came over. “Sweetheart, what’s wrong?” she asked softly.
“I don’t know, Mom… it’s late, and Dad still isn’t home,” Lala admitted, her voice trembling. “I’m scared something happened to him.”
Mom hugged her tightly. “I understand, Lala. Sometimes things take longer than expected, but Dad will come home soon. Let’s stay calm and think of something fun while we wait.”
Lala nodded, but worry still lingered in her little heart. She peeked outside repeatedly, hoping to see Dad’s familiar figure walking down the street. Each passing minute made her feel a bit more anxious.
Finally, headlights appeared at the end of the driveway. Lala’s eyes lit up. “Dad!” she shouted, running to the door.
Dad stepped inside, tired but smiling. “Hey, little one! Sorry I’m late.”
Lala jumped into his arms, hugging him tightly. “I was so worried!”
“I know, sweetie,” Dad said, holding her close. “But I’m here now, and that’s what matters.”
That night, as Lala snuggled beside Dad, she realized that even when she felt scared and confused, love and patience could help her wait—and the joy of reunion made her heart overflow with happiness.
