One morning, Lala sat quietly in front of the mirror. Normally she loved to admire her bright eyes and cheerful smile, but today was different. A small rash had appeared on her cheeks, making her face red and uneven. Lala frowned and touched her reflection with a sigh.
“My face looks ugly…” she whispered sadly. She didn’t want to play or even show herself to Mom and Dad. Curling up in her blanket, she felt sorry for herself and wondered if anyone would still think she was pretty.
A gentle knock came on the door. Mom peeked in and saw Lala’s gloomy face. Sitting beside her, Mom asked softly, “Why are you so sad, sweetheart?”
Lala pointed at her cheeks and said, “Look, Mom. I don’t look nice anymore.” Tears welled up in her eyes.
Mom smiled warmly and pulled Lala into her arms. “Oh, my darling, beauty is not just about a face. You are beautiful because you are kind, caring, and full of love. A small rash can never take that away.”
Dad entered too, carrying a bowl of warm soup. “Even when you’re sad, you’re still our shining star,” he said, placing a kiss on her forehead.
Hearing their words, Lala’s heart softened. She realized that her family’s love wasn’t based on looks but on who she truly was.
Later, Mom gently applied soothing cream to her cheeks and promised the rash would soon heal. Lala finally smiled again. “Thank you, Mom and Dad. I guess I don’t need to be perfect to be loved.”
That night, as she drifted off to sleep, she felt comforted—knowing her true beauty came from within.
