When Dad arrived to visit Monkey Kaka, he expected to see her playful and full of energy, just like before. But what he saw instead made his heart sink—Kaka was curled up on the cold, hard ground, fast asleep. It was a heartbreaking sight that filled him with sadness and worry.
Kaka, who once had the warmth of a loving home and the comfort of soft blankets, now had nothing but the earth beneath her. The way she lay there, her tiny body curled up to stay warm, made Dad’s heart ache. He could see how much she missed the familiar comforts she once had.
Approaching her gently, Dad sat down beside Kaka, watching her peaceful but vulnerable form. He reached out and softly stroked her back, careful not to wake her too suddenly. Even in her sleep, she seemed to recognize his touch, shifting slightly as if seeking the warmth she once knew.
When Kaka finally opened her eyes and saw Dad, her face lit up with happiness. She jumped up and clung to him tightly, as if trying to make up for all the time they had spent apart. Dad held her close, whispering soothing words, but he couldn’t shake the sadness he felt. He wished he could take her back home, back to a place where she wouldn’t have to sleep on the ground, exposed to the cold and harsh conditions.
Despite the sadness in his heart, Dad knew Kaka was strong. She had adapted to her new life, finding ways to survive and stay happy. Still, he couldn’t help but feel heartbroken, knowing that she deserved so much more.
Before leaving, Dad made sure to leave her with some warm blankets and food, hoping they would bring her some comfort. As he walked away, Kaka watched him, her eyes filled with love and longing. And in that moment, Dad silently promised to always be there for her, no matter what.
