The sky was heavy with dark clouds, and the wind carried the scent of rain as the waves crashed against the shore. Most people would have postponed their trip in such weather, but not Dad. He had made a promise—to visit Monkey Kaka on the island, no matter what.
Kaka wasn’t just any monkey; he was special. Over time, he had formed a unique bond with Dad, recognizing his voice and always greeting him with excited chatter. It had been a while since their last meeting, and Dad knew Kaka would be waiting. So, despite the brewing storm, he boarded a small boat, determined to reach his furry friend.
The journey was rough. The sea was restless, tossing the boat as if testing his determination. Rain drizzled, then poured, but Dad held on, gripping the edges tightly. As the island came into view, a sense of relief washed over him. He had made it.
Stepping onto the wet, muddy shore, he called out, “Kaka!” His voice barely carried over the sound of the wind rustling through the trees. For a moment, there was silence. Then, a familiar figure appeared from the branches—small, lively, and unmistakably Kaka.
The little monkey scurried down, his eyes lighting up despite the gloomy weather. He chirped and reached out, letting Dad give him a gentle pat. He wouldn’t let Dad hug him—Kaka never did—but he allowed him to sit close, a sign of trust that meant everything.
For a while, they sat together under the cover of a thick tree, listening to the rain. It didn’t matter that the weather was bad. What mattered was that Dad had come, just as he had promised.
As the storm softened, Dad knew it was time to leave. He stood, giving Kaka one last pat before heading back to the boat. The journey home would be just as tough, but it was worth it. Some friendships, after all, are stronger than the fiercest storm.
