Late in the afternoon, Lala’s tummy gave a loud grumble. She held her belly and whispered, “Oh no… I’m so hungry!” She remembered the delicious dumplings Mom had bought earlier and quickly decided, “I’ll steam them myself!”
Excited, she tiptoed into the kitchen and opened the fridge. Inside, neatly wrapped dumplings waited for her. Lala’s eyes sparkled as she placed them carefully in a steamer basket. She filled the pot with water, just like she had seen Mom do, and set it on the stove.
As the water began to bubble, steam hissed softly, filling the kitchen with warmth. Lala stood on her little stool, watching carefully, her nose twitching as the delicious smell slowly filled the air. She clapped her hands. “Mmm, they’re cooking perfectly!”
While waiting, she set up her own tiny table with chopsticks, a dipping sauce dish, and even poured herself a small cup of tea—pretending she was at a fancy restaurant.
Finally, the dumplings were ready. Lala lifted the lid carefully, and a cloud of fragrant steam whooshed out. The dumplings looked shiny and soft, almost glowing in the steam. She placed them neatly on a plate and took her first bite.
“Wow!” she exclaimed with wide eyes. The dumplings were warm, juicy, and so tasty. She felt proud of herself for making them all on her own.
Just then, Mom peeked into the kitchen. “Lala! Did you steam these by yourself?” she asked in surprise.
Lala nodded proudly. “Yes, Mom! I was hungry, so I cooked!”
Mom laughed and hugged her. “My little chef is growing up!”
Together, they sat down and shared the dumplings, turning Lala’s small hungry moment into a big memory filled with love and joy.
