Back at home, the morning was quiet—just the soft hum of the air conditioning and the gentle rustle of leaves outside the window. But inside, in the cozy corner of the dining room, Lala was practically buzzing with excitement.
Her eyes sparkled as CEO Kien unwrapped the white paper bag and placed a small dish in front of her. The smell hit her instantly—steamed pork bun with a hint of quail egg inside. Her favorite. Her tail thumped against the wooden floor like a little drum.
“Slowly, Lala,” Kien chuckled, placing his own bowl of sticky rice and grilled pork onto the table. But she was already licking her lips, ears perked and ready for her first bite.
He sat beside her, still in his pressed shirt from the market, sleeves casually rolled up. Before eating, he poured her a fresh bowl of water and gave her a small pat between the ears.
“You’ve been such a good girl today,” he said warmly.
Lala took the first bite delicately, savoring the soft bun, her eyes half-closing in happiness. She glanced up at Kien between bites, as if to say, Thank you. This is perfect.
For a few minutes, they simply enjoyed the meal together—no phones, no calls, no meetings. Just the quiet company of two souls who understood each other beyond words.
Kien looked down at her and smiled. “You make breakfast better, you know that?”
Lala, now full and content, rested her head gently on his foot. Her tail gave one final, lazy wag.
It wasn’t just a meal—it was a moment. Shared. Simple. Special.
And for both of them, it was the best way to start the day.
