It was a sunny afternoon when Lala peeked into the kitchen and saw Mom setting out a few bowls. “What are we making today?” Lala asked with excitement in her voice.
“A cake,” Mom replied with a smile, “and we’ll use only simple ingredients. You’ll see—it will still taste amazing!”
On the table, Mom placed flour, eggs, sugar, milk, and a little butter. Lala was surprised. “That’s it? No fancy things?”
Mom nodded. “Sometimes, the simplest things make the best treats.”
They began by cracking eggs into a big bowl. Lala whisked them until they were light and foamy, while Mom melted the butter on the stove. Next, they added sugar, milk, and flour, mixing until the batter was smooth and creamy. The sweet smell of the ingredients already made Lala’s mouth water.
Mom poured the batter into a round cake pan, and Lala carefully slid it into the oven. While they waited, the warm aroma of baking cake filled the kitchen, wrapping them in comfort. Lala sat by the oven door, watching the cake slowly rise like magic.
When the timer beeped, Mom pulled out a golden, fluffy cake. They let it cool for a few minutes before slicing into it. Lala took the first bite—soft, warm, and perfectly sweet.
“Mmm… this is so good!” she exclaimed. “And it was so easy to make!”
Mom smiled and patted her head. “Cooking isn’t just about the ingredients—it’s about making it with love.”
Lala nodded, already thinking about the next time they could bake together. The cake might have been simple, but the happiness it brought was more delicious than anything in the world.
