It was bedtime in the cozy little house, and everything seemed calm and quiet. The lights were dimmed, the stars twinkled outside the window, and a gentle breeze blew through the curtains. Thuy had just tucked Lala into bed, placing her favorite blanket over her and giving her a soft goodnight kiss.
But Lala wasn’t sleepy. She rolled over, looked around, and let out a tiny sigh. Something was missing—someone important. Her little eyes wandered to the empty corner where her fluffy kitten usually slept.
“Mom…” she whispered softly, “Where’s the kitten?”
Thuy peeked back into the room, gently smiling. “Sweetheart, the kitten is sleeping in her basket tonight. She needs a calm space too.”
“But I want her here… I can’t sleep without her,” Lala pouted, clutching her pillow.
She tossed and turned, fluffing her blanket, then sitting up with a frown. The quiet room didn’t feel the same without the tiny purring ball of fur by her side. Lala missed the soft nuzzles, the ticklish whiskers, and the warmth that always made her fall asleep faster.
After a few minutes of restlessness, Lala tiptoed out of bed, hugging her bunny plushie tight. She walked slowly to the kitten’s basket and sat beside it, watching the little one sleep peacefully.
Thuy found her there and gently picked her up. “I know you love the kitten, and she loves you too. But tonight, let her rest. I have an idea,” she whispered.
Together, they brought the kitten’s small toy and blanket into Lala’s bed. Thuy even recorded a soft purring sound on her phone and played it beside Lala.
Lala smiled sleepily, curling up with the kitten’s scent all around her. “Thank you, Mommy,” she mumbled, finally drifting off to sleep with a peaceful sigh.
That night, even without the kitten in her arms, Lala learned that love and comfort can still be felt—in little ways that warm the heart.
